Body repair in Geneva

A dented panel, a bent wing, a door that no longer closes straight: the part is straightened when that is possible, and replaced when the damage is too severe.

Paint and spot repair: does the whole panel need repainting?

Not always. When the scratch has not gone through the primer, the touch-up is limited to the affected area; the whole panel is only repainted if the colour will not blend.

Paintless dent repair: when does a dent come out without repainting?

When the paint has not cracked. The metal is pushed back from behind the panel, with no filler and no time in the paint booth, and the original paint is preserved. As soon as the paint is cracked, or the back of the panel cannot be reached, it needs repainting.

ADAS calibration: do the driver-assistance systems need recalibrating?

As soon as the aim of a camera, radar or sensor may have shifted, the system is recalibrated: a replaced windscreen, an impact, a wheel alignment, a replaced sensor. AZ Carrosserie calibrates the driver-assistance systems of all makes, with its own calibration equipment, as a separate service. New parts are programmed, all makes. Price on quotation.

  • A separate service, with no other repair needed

Tyres and brakes: when should they be changed?

Tyres are changed when the tread wears down, when the sidewall is cut or when the season changes: fitting, balancing, pressure check. On the braking side, pads and discs are replaced as soon as the pedal travel gets longer or a squeal appears when slowing down.

Wheel repair: can a scuffed wheel be repaired?

Often, yes. The scuffed rim is reshaped and the finish restored, with the wheel taken off. A cracked or buckled wheel is replaced: it is a load-bearing part, and nothing can be put right on the surface.

Every request starts from the quote form: the affected area on a diagram, the type of damage, a photo. The quote is free.

Repair or replace a body part

A dent can be worked out from behind the panel as long as the original paint has not cracked: that is paintless dent repair, with no filler and no time in the paint booth. If the paint is split, the repair then needs panel work and repainting.

A scratch is judged by its depth. If it has not gone through the primer, only the affected area is redone: that is spot repair. When a panel is marked along its whole length, it is repainted in full, so that the colour matches the car’s paint code.

A windscreen is replaced when the chip is in the middle of your field of vision, or when a crack is spreading across the glass. A recent chip outside your field of vision should first be shown at the workshop: we will tell you where things stand.

A wheel scuffed on the rim can be reshaped. Cracked or buckled, it is replaced: it is a load-bearing part.

This sorting is done when the car is inspected, not over the phone. Your photo is used to prepare the quote; the decision is made once the car has been seen, and nothing goes ahead without your approval.

Will your insurance cover the repair?

Cover depends on what caused the damage and on your policy. In Switzerland, partial casco cover (part-comprehensive) pays for damage caused by external events such as hail, storms or broken glass. Full casco cover also pays for collisions, whoever was at fault. Third-party liability insurance only pays for damage caused to others. What your own policy covers, and the excess you have to pay yourself, are set out in your terms. Give the name of your insurer in the quote form: that is where the claim starts. What to do after a minor collision is explained on the Accidents and insurance page.
